Milestones in the development of the ELP

The history of the ELP is closely linked with the history of the Common European Framework of Reference and dates back to the 1980s.

The first Swiss ELP (ELP III, 16+) was accredited by the Council of Europe in 2000 and officially launched by the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) on 1 May 2001. This version was followed by ELP II for learners aged 11-15 in 2005, by ELP I for learners aged 7-11 in 2008 and by the Portfolino for learners aged 4-6 in the same year. All four models were published by the EDK and produced by Schulverlag plus. The ELP for higher education was published by the European Language Council in 2003 and also produced by Schulverlag plus.
